Bangkok declared disaster zone after torrential rain

Thai authorities declared Bangkok a disaster-affected zone following torrential rain that caused widespread flooding. Nearly 300mm of rain fell within 48 hours, submerging cars and forcing people to wade through waist-high water. Governor Chadchart Sittipunt warned the crisis poses risks to lives and property, particularly near canals.
