Astronomers spot Jupiter-like weather on a world 20 light-years away

Scientists at Trinity College Dublin used the James Webb Space Telescope to analyze SIMP 0136, a brown dwarf 20 light-years away. Using principal component analysis, they discovered its atmosphere isn't chaotic but shaped by two main processes: temperature changes and cloud arrangement. The study reveals organized weather patterns similar to Jupiter's belts and zones.

I think it's amazing that we have been able to discern the intimate weather patterns of a distant world and map their interactions from our cozy little corner of the universe.
